Southend United's youth team coach Marc Massey has resigned it was revealed today.
The former Chelsea defender, 42, quit his post before the weekend, citing personal reasons for his shock departure.
And Blues boss Rob Newman, who took charge of the Shrimpers' under-19 side with his coaches on Saturday, said he would take his time looking for a successor.
"Marc has resigned for personal reasons," confirmed Newman. "It was entirely his decision and now we will have to find somebody else.
"On Saturday we all mucked in, taking charge of the youngsters for their match with Portsmouth at Boots and Laces.
"But they haven't got a game for two weeks now, which will give us time to assess the situation and find a new man for the vacant coaching role."
