Firemen were faced with a prickly problem after a hedgehog got stuck up a drainpipe.
It took Brightlingsea firemen 30 minutes to get the animal out after delicately prising it free.
The hedgehog was left with the occupier of the house in Church Road, Brightlingsea, who later released it back into the wild after its ordeal.
