From the hard grind of charity fundraising to the sharp end of retailing - that is Tony Wilson's latest career move and a cause for breaking open the bubbly.

For the past four years, Tony has been charity projects manager at Southend Hospital where he helped raise many hundreds of thousands of pounds, first for the new leukaemia unit and, more latterly, the Building Blocks appeal.

At a farewell party given in his honour, chairman John Bruce said: "The success of Southend Hospital Foundation appeals has been in no small way attributable to Tony's energy, enthusiasm and personal style."

Tony has taken over Lewistan Tools in Leigh Road, Leigh where he is pictured toasting the future with store manager Paul Squibb.
