Crisis-hit cable giant Telewest, with hundreds of workers in Southend and Basildon, has shrugged off an attempt to close it down, insisting that its rescue plans remain on track.
The company failed to meet interest payments on its £4billion debt mountain and creditor French bank Credit Agricole applied for a winding up order.
