Hawkwell Athletic Tigers will be roaring into action this season with the backing of a top professional footballer.
For Leyton Orient star Matt Lockwood has brought a brand new kit for the South-East Essex Mini-Soccer Primary League under-10 side.
Lockwood has recently brought a house in Hawkwell, and explained: "I've known national newspaper photographer Nicky Hayes for some time and his son plays for the team and I was happy to sponsor them when I was asked.
"I know with young boys of that age they all want to be professional footballers when they grow up. I don't suppose too many of them have heard of me as I'm with Leyton Orient -- and I might not be too popular with some of them after we beat their local team Southend United this week!
"However, to be sponsored by a professional footballer will hopefully be a boost for them and I wanted to put something back into the game."
