Officers in Tendring have joined a countywide campaign to target burglars.
Operation Relentless has been staged this week as part of an Essex Police initiative to send out a strong message to offenders.
The aim is to increase the fear of arrest and conviction, while reducing the fear of crime amongst residents.
Det Insp Godfrey O'Toole, based at Clacton, said a number of officers had been involved in the operation which began on Monday.
He said he did not want to reveal too much information at this stage as it was ongoing but would be making a full report on its success once the information had been collated.
"It has been intelligence-led, looking at various crime trends targetting volume crime in hot spot areas," added Det Insp O'Toole.
"We have been using a number of our own staff from across the division in an effort to take a more high profile approach towards offenders and helping residents with ways of protecting their property."
