Final plans for a £30million retail development and country park on the edge of Clacton are to be put forward in the next two months.

Work on Brook Park should begin in the spring.

Kevin Britton of Britton Construction has put in an application to extend the country park element of the project after buying two new pieces of land.

He wants to bring those into the overall site to be developed and he is trying to get permission from Tendring Council to get them included.

Mr Britton won an appeal following a lengthy public inquiry over the proposal last year, but the Secretary of State made a strict ruling on the boundaries of the site.

A spokesman for the firm said the aim was to expand those to use the two new parcels of land which will add another 0.69 hectares to the country park.

The first piece of land is next to the Little Clacton Bypass and was severed from a large field by the building of the road. It was landlocked and had become overgrown and would have detracted from the character and appearance of the park when built.

The second area runs alongside London Road and is next to a house. Its use as part of the park would resolve any uncertainty over its use which was a concern for the residents of the house, according to the company.

The country park will cover about 34 acres overall.
