Kemal Izzet could hold the key to a morale-boosting win for Colchester United at lowly Mansfield Town tonight.

The never-say-die diminutive midfielder has all the qualities U's boss Steve Whitton is looking for - especially away from home.

And Whitton would like nothing more than to see his young starlet make a major impact in the midlands just up the road from where his older brother Muzzy regularly thrills the Leicester City fans.

A confident U's boss said: "Kem is getting back to the player we all know so well.

"His bubbly character, all-action style, eagerness and enthusiasm, tackling, shooting, willingness to work and get in where it hurts is a great example to everyone.

"And for one so small he's pretty good competing in the air as well.

"We need all his enthusiasm out on the pitch and what Kem lacks in style he more than makes up for with his big heart."

Whitton is hoping some of Izzet's all-round talent and endeavour rubs off on his team-mates as they go to Field Mill looking to stretch their unbeaten run to five games, while making life even more miserable for the bottom of the table Stags.

Groin injury victim Mark Warren will be missing again, so Whitton will be making a late decision on whether Pat Baldwin or Danny Steele will partner Alan White in the heart of defence.
