Protesters gathered to speak out against military action in Iraq.
The group of about 35, many of whom are members of the Basildon branch of the Stop the War Coalition, met in St Martin's Square, Basildon, last night to make their feelings known.

South Essex campaigners were meeting as part of a nationwide Don't Attack Iraq day with the aim of highlighting opposition to a possible war with the Middle Eastern state.
Branch organiser David Murray said he was pleased to have seen a cross section of the community represented at the event. He said: "It was good. We are very positive and people are starting to understand the peace movement does have an effect on the war movement."
