Billericay Town may find their former midfielder Paul Linger a major threat when they relaunch their Ryman League Premier Division title bid at home to Essex rivals Purfleet tonight (7.45pm).

The New Lodge side will be keen to get back on the win trail after following their first home defeat of the season, 1-0 against Enfield ten days ago, with a disastrous FA Cup demise at Dr Martens League Havant and Waterlooville last weekend.

Uncharacteristically for a side that had previously conceded only eight goals in 16 League games, Town were 3-0 down with less than half-an-hour gone and left themselves with an insurmountable mountain to climb.

Linger, always a regular scorer during his Billericay days, has been finding the net consistently for Fleet.

After grabbing the equaliser at Canvey a fortnight ago, he was on target with the winner last weekend when Aylesbury visited.

Billericay will still be without the suspended duo of Roy Essandoh and Russell Penn and have parted company with former Aldershot striker Scott Forrester who, after a spell on loan with Boreham Wood, has joined the Hertfordshire club on a permanent basis.

Canvey, without a first team game this weekend due to their FA Trophy first round exemption, will go to Hayes in the League's Bryco Cup first round on November 19.
