Advertisements have just gone out in the medical press for a new salaried GP and nurse practitioner to take over the surgery in the Gore, Basildon.

Until recently, the practice was run by husband and wife team Drs Jas alongside their other surgery in Matching Green. When they decided they could no longer cope with the two, Basildon primary care trust brought in a locum to cater for the Gore's patients.

Mary Ann Munford, PCT chief executive, said the new salaried GP arrangements would mean a better service than the current one surgery a day.

She said: "Maintaining and developing access to services is one of our highest priorities."
