Eastenders star Bindya Solanki launched an Indian festival in Southend to raise cash for local charities.
The star, who plays Nita in the popular soap, appeared at Portcullis House, in Victoria Avenue, for a series of charity events to mark Diwali, the Indian festival of lights.
The annual festival heralds the coming of winter and signifies the renewal of life, and it is usual for people to wear new clothes.
