A police officer has thanked members of the public who pulled together to remove a tree knocked down in the devastating weather at the weekend.
PC Alan Ratnage, from Wickford police, was at the top of Brock Hill on Sunday where a small tree had fallen down.
Another large tree also fell into the road blocking the way. Mr Ratnage said: "All of these people just started getting out of their cars and helping. We were having trouble pushing it up to the side and one man went and got a rope to keep it secure.
"It was real teamwork and I would just like to thank them for making my job easier."
