The vital support provided by Brentwood Prep School to the Crucial Crew safety initiative has been recognised through a special award.
The Crucial Crew scheme uses realistic simulations to educate children about possible dangers they may face in their everyday life.
The prep school, based in Ingrave Road, has hosted the event for the past eight years. At a special ceremony, head teacher Peter MacDougall was presented with a plaque to thank the school for its support by council chief executive Bob McLintock and Brian Morris from the Crucial Crew committee.
Brentwood Council, the county council plus the police, fire and ambulance services are all involved in putting on the event which also involves local drama students plus companies such as Argos and Ford.
Topics covered include stranger danger, drug abuse, and guidance on road and fire safety.
Mr MacDougall said: "This is a very worthwhile activity. Children's safety is our top priority and we are proud to be able to support the Crucial Crew.
"Year six pupils from schools all over the area are invited to take part in the initiative and we feel it is very important to be able to offer our facilities in this way.
"We are delighted with this plaque, which will take pride of place in the entrance foyer."
