Protesters armed with anti-war banners took to the streets to march against the threat of war with Iraq.
About 150 demonstrators joined the march around Colchester town centre on Saturday, saying they were fighting to make the voice of local people heard.
Led by the Colchester Peace Campaign and Colchester Quakers, the march was given a police escort throughout the town.
High Street traffic was stopped when the march started off from the war memorial outside Colchester Castle.
The protesters then travelled down Short Wyre Street, Eld Lane, Trinity Street, Culver Street West and then back on to the High Street and finished at the war memorial.
Larry Reynolds, of the Peace Campaign, said it was good to see so many people turn out.
"We are showing that there are people in Colchester who don't want to support this war," he said.
