The changing face of Hadleigh will be put under the spotlight tonight at a meeting of the special planning committee.
Plans to put up large illuminated McDonald's signs, one being on a 3.5 metre pole, could be given the go-ahead.
Protesters have been campaigning to put a halt to the food giant's plan to put the signs up outside its new eatery in High Street.
They fear the signs would ruin the historic look of Hadleigh and spoil the ambience of the local area.
The special planning meeting takes place tonight in the council chamber at the Council Offices in Kiln Road, Thundersley, at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
