A bus driver is campaigning for a smoother ride for his passengers.
Ray Davies claims Clacton is dotted with uneven road surfaces and potholes.
And he is calling for a joint campaign to press for more funding to smooth over the town's roads.
Campaigning for a smoother ride for passengers
Mr Davies of Brighton Road, Holland-on-Sea, explained: "As someone involved in tourism in Clacton in a very small way, I would like all visitors to have a favourable impression of the resort."
His objective, he said, was to form an alliance to make a case for better funding for road resurfacing of bad stretches to carry public transport.
Mr Davies said his evidence is based on his journeys as a bus driver, transporting passengers in vehicles which were more sensitive than cars, but he was backing the campaign as a citizen.
Recently Mr Davies toured several of the problem sites in the town with Tendring Council's assistant head of technical services, Ray Smith.
Mr Smith said while Tendring Council, as the agents for the highway authority, were bound by budget constraints he welcomed the chance to look at the sites from a different angle, in this case bus passengers.
