Two young children were almost killed when fierce gales blew in a window and showered them with shards of deadly glass, a dad said today.
Jeff Bell, 28, was watching television with his son Tyler, six, and daughter Tylia-Marie, eight, when 90mph winds struck his ex-partner's Rochford flat in Golden Cross Parade.

He said: "The window was blown in - it just went bang. The children were sitting in the front room and when the window went pieces of glass missed them by inches.
"I'm not exaggerating at all - it could have killed them. It was a nightmare.
"The window next to the main one went about ten minutes later followed by the one upstairs.
The windows were boarded up after Sunday afternoon's terrifying incident and Mr Bell decided to keep the children off school yesterday while they recovered from the shock.
