A woman has died in a car crash at Earls Colne.
The emergency services, including the police and Essex Ambulance Service were called to the scene of the crash in Coggeshall Road, yesterday morning.
The accident involved a red Nissan Micra car and a red Ford Maverick
Sarah Jones, 20, of Josselin Close, Earls Colne, was a front seat passenger in the Nissan and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Police say the Nissan lost control near Essex Golf and Country Club, Earls Colne.
The male driver of the Micra was taken to Colchester General Hospital with serious head injuries.
A spokesman for Essex Police said early indications were that the severe weather had not caused the accident but that the exact cause would not be known until police traffic experts had carried out a full investigation.
Part of the road was closed off during the morning and part of the afternoon. Anyone with information about the accident should contact Bocking traffic police on 01376 330722
