Experts backing controversial plans for Cliffe Airport have again ignored the havoc it could cause south-Essex, claimed campaigners.
Jakkie Byrne, who chairs Essex Action Group fighting against Cliffe proposals, spoke out following a report which put the massive airport scheme in a much more favourable light.
It reckoned the Government had "exaggerated the benefits of expanding Heathrow and Stansted" and had failed to count the environmental costs of expanding Heathrow.
The report also said Cliffe had appeared to be much more expensive with the prospect of the £300m tunnel under the Thames from Canvey which "may not be needed."
