Police are appealing for a driver who was in collision with a moped and left the scene.
The woman, believed to be in her 40s, assisted the male moped driver after the accident at 4.20pm at the junction of Marine Parade East and Anglefield, Clacton, on Friday.
But as police helped the man, who suffered minor injuries, into an ambulance the woman left before they could take her details. All they know is she drove a red car.
PC Joe Loftus, of Thorpe Traffic Police, said: "It may all be innocent but we would still like to trace her."
If you have information or are the woman in question please contact Stanway Traffic Police on 01206 762512.
