Chelmsford City comfortably came out on top in the derby fixture, defeating hapless Welling United 2-0 at Park View Road.
City were again indebted to veteran striker Phil Gray; the former Northern Ireland international giving the Clarets the lead on the stroke of half-time as he turned to angle a shot past an exposed Glen Knight.
Welling rarely looked to threaten that advantage, with Paul Nicholls a mere spectator for much of the second period.
The second goal arrived on 55 minutes. Former Shrewsbury man Kevin Seabury sold Luke Moorish hopelessly short, and Dale Watkins nipped in to score his first goal for the club following his arrival from Kettering Town.
Welling kept plugging away as best they could in a crowded midfield, and gained a penalty with 14 minutes left to play when Ian Wiles impeded Raphael Nade. But Dean Standen's weak penalty was well deflected by Nicholls.
Chelmsford climb to 11th place in the Dr Martens Premier.
