Glenn Roeder was in no mood to allow a late revival mask his disappointment after West Ham flopped at home yet again.
The Hammers' boss must have hoped his squad had turned the corner after back-to-back away wins last week, but was rudely brought back to Earth yesterday.
The 1-0 loss to Everton at Upton Park was even more disappointing as it came on the back of a massive boost in expectation and confidence following the recent improvements.
"We had to lose a goal today before we got the wake-up call to try to get back in the game," said Roeder. "I don't just want to talk about those last 15 minutes.
"We were very flat from the start -- and that was the last thing I expected. I thought we would really go for them at the start."
