Harlow missed the chance to move second in Ryman Division One North on Saturday, held 0-0 at Essex rivals East Thurrock United.

In fairness though, Harlow deserved little more than the one point they gained, again failing to seize on the chance of moving into a challenging position in the promotion race.

The visitors did go closest to breaking the deadlock on the hour, but with the ball in the net the goal was ruled out for a foul on Rocks defender Neil Tilley. Thurrock came strong late on however, with Wayne Tomkyns expertly denied by Harlow keeper Gavin King twice in the final few minutes.

Elsewhere, Wivenhoe continued their excellent upturn in form coming out on top in a seven-goal thriller at Barking. The win takes the Essex side into mid-table for the first time this season, thanks to goals from Sean Caton, Julian Hazel (twice) and James Dormer.

Tilbury moved back up to 8th, defeating Berkhamstead Town 2-1 with Jean-Marie Okita hitting both goals.
