Councillors examine the Canvey beach where Environment Agency experts plan to start improvement works this winter.
Canvey county councillors Ray Howard and Dennis Williams alerted the agency to the loose rocks which have fallen from the breakwater and the sand erosion.
Just checking - Ray Howard and Dennis Williams survey the breakwater Picture: LUAN MARSHALL
As a result, a £5,000 experiment is set to be tried, where the shape of one of the breakwaters at the beach off Eastern Esplanade will be altered to see if this helps retain the sand.
Rocks which have fallen from the breakwater, and which hamper swimmers, could also be cleared.
