Residents in Clacton today called for urgent traffic calming measures to be introduced before someone is seriously injured or killed.
More than 100 people have signed a petition urging action to be taken in the area of Leas Road and Cherry Tree Avenue.
One home owner's wall has been knocked down twice in separate incidents on the bend where the two roads meet.
Now, the residents fear there could be a serious accident if nothing is done to slow down motorists who often use the area as a short-cut.
Roy Smith, Tendring and Essex county councillor, who lives in Cherry Tree Avenue himself, said people living around there feared the worst.
Mike Badger, senior engineer for Tendring Council, said he had not been aware there was a problem at the bend between Cherry Tree Avenue and Leas Road.
Mr Badger said: "An investigation is being carried out by Essex County Council's specialist road safety consultants, which covers part of Alton Park Road and extends into Leas Road."
Mr Badger said it did not include the bend at Cherry Tree Avenue, as there was no personal injury accident record there.
However, he supported the residents views of danger from motorists and said he would arrange for warning signs and additional road markings to be installed to improve the information given to drivers using the route.
