A Colchester town centre restaurant which has been open for less then six months is to close.
The Plate, in North Hill, was opened in May by John and Saska Bierowiec, who used to own The Old Court Coffee House in Church Street.
They had spent the previous year renovating the 15th century building, doing most of the work themselves, but they have decided to close because of personal reasons.
Mrs Bierowiec said today: "We have decided that because of increasing family commitments, and also a family bereavement, to close the business."
She added that she was looking to lease the North Hill property out in the future.
