Ronnie Moore is out of the running for the vacant manager's job at Ipswich Town.
The Rotherham United boss has met with his chairman to discuss mounting speculation linking him with Portman Road.
And, as result of their discussions, it has been confirmed by the club that any approach would be rejected by the Millers.
As things stand, it is unclear whether Town ever made an inquiry about the Millmoor chief.
The matter has been shrouded with uncertainty because of an alleged phone call by Blues chairman David Sheepshanks.
The Millers claimed they were contacted by him on the same day George Burley was sacked.
Sheepshanks, however, denied the accusation and said it must have been a hoax.
