Naked lap-dancing is coming to Colchester. A little bit of New York is heading to New Town as Club Forin got the green light last night to provide lap-dancing, pole-dancing and table-dancing in the town.
Between eight and 14 young women will be hired from an agency in London, four nights a week, to perform on the club's seven poles.
The naked girls will give lap-dances for about £10 a time to visitors, who have already paid a £15 door charge.
Simon Harvey, council licensing officer, told borough councillors last night: "Lap-dancing is semi-nude or nude dancing, performed usually by young women who, for a pre-paid and pre-agreed fee, often £10, will dance for a customer."
Club Forin will provide nude-dancing.
At last night's meeting of of Colchester Council's licensing and regulatory committee, councillors granted owner of the Magdalen Street club Adnan Ademoglu's application to vary his entertainment licence so he can provide the adult entertainment.
Although remaining a nightclub, it is Mr Ademoglu's intention to provide lap, pole and table-dancing four nights a week to begin with.
The licence was agreed with a range of conditions including no more than 191 people being allowed in at a time.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr Ademoglu said: "I'm pleased that Colchester is taking a modern approach."
