A suspected food poisoning outbreak is being investigated in Braintree.
Environmental health officers from Braintree Council confirmed at least ten people have been left ill after eating at a restaurant in the district.
The possible food poisoning incident thought to be linked to salmonella has seen food standards staff informing the restaurant and starting proceedings to find out what caused the illness.
Some of the diners may have been admitted to Broomfield Hospital before investigators took samples for extensive tests.
The council department set up to protect the consumer from health risks that can be caused through infected or ill-prepared food will not confirm the exact number of people that have been affected or which food outlet was responsible until tests have been completed.
A spokesperson for environmental health said: "We are currently still investigating it and can make no further comment until we have done further research."
