In the first round of the Speedo League South, Braintree & Bocking Swimming Club travelled to Kent to take on opposition from Burgess Hill, Dover, Hasting, Kingston and Maidstone.
Braintree had to wait until the tenth event, for the Open 4X25m medley relay squad of Ashley Breed, Chris Watkinson, Stuart Notman and Dean Slator to pick up the first maximum points score.
This was followed by a string of individual successes. Jacinth Whittaker won the 15/U by forging to the front after 50m and pulled clear of the opposition in the Open 100m backstroke events.
Ashley Breed secured victory in the 15/U 100m backstroke.
Stuart Notman won the Open 100m fly and 100m freestyle, leading both events all the way.
Lauren Costin produced a personal best time to win the 13/U 100m backstroke.
Adam Byford led all the way to win both the 13/U 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
Alex Pearson secured maximum points in the 9/11 years 50m breaststroke, pulling away on the last length.
