Saturday's match at Riverside started like all local derbies, end to end attacking with no overall dominance, although the Dynamos seemed the more go ahead team, and so it proved to be when on 10.41 Matt Beveridge broke away during a Chieftains power play and rounded the net minder to score.

Disaster was looming, a very sluggish Chieftains could not get going.

Once more a Dynamos breakaway brought dividends as Phil Chard scored to make it 2-0 Dynamos and so the period finished.

The second period was all Chieftains and on 24.07 the revival started, Russell Bishop scored with a shot from the point after great work by Steve Birch, then on 32.01 another Bishop shot was deflected by birch into the path of Dan Cabby to equalize.

The tails were up and the Chieftains on a roll, then the turning point of the match, a refereeing decision took the heart out of the Chieftains.

A goal by the Chieftains was disallowed, the puck had crossed the goal line and been scooped back by the net minder, but the referee who was in line with play for once said no, as the players remonstrated to no avail, the game continued.

On 39.47 once again Matt Beveridge was given too much time and space to rip through the Chieftains defence to score what was to be the match winner.
