Around 30,000 residents in Castle Point will have a say about fighting traffic snarl-ups in the borough.
Leaflets will be delivered to all the borough's homes next week to alert residents to a fortnight consultation period which will culminate in a crunch public meeting.
Some of the options include the widening the A127 from the M25 to the A130 and improvements at Sadlers Farm.
