Keith Wilson celebrated his home debut with the equaliser as Great Wakering Rovers battled to a Ryman First North draw at Burroughs Park.
In a game when much of the incident happenedat the start of the game, the former East Thurrock United midfielder volleyed home on eight minutesaftergiantstriker Tony Sibanda pressured the keeperand forced the ball loose froma cross.
Wilson's goal capped a bright first start on the left of midfield since he signed for the club from Rocks last Friday.
It also cancelled out the opening strike from Wingate and Finchley's John Butterfield, who fired a right-foot shot into the corner on five minutes.
Chances were few and far between after those two efforts, but Wakering had a chance to win it late in the second half when Sibanda nodded down to Danny Pitts five yards from goal.
But Pitts saw his reaction effort palmed on to the crossbar by a superb save from visiting keeper Andrew Walker.
