A woman was left with a bruised wrist after her handbag was snatched by two teenage robbers on bicycles.
The woman, in her 30s, was walking along Westbourne Grove at its junction with Westborough Road, Westcliff, when she was robbed.
Her bag contained £100 in cash, a Mont Blanc pen worth £350 in a leather case, a mobile phone, glasses, credit cards and sunglasses. The robbers' haul had a total value of £950.
Southend police said one of the robbers was a slim, white, male aged between 15 and 19, about 5ft 6in tall, with green eyes.
He wore a baseball cap with a blue peak, light-coloured trousers, a stone-coloured shiny sports top, and rode a BMX bicycle with a low saddle.
