Residents in Frinton are calling for more police to be put on the beat to patrol their town.
They told a meeting they were concerned about the increase in crime and were worried about their safety.
Gail Evans, who lives in Connaught Avenue, Frinton, said at the half-yearly meeting of the Frinton Residents' Association: "We have been concerned about the increasing crime.
"I have seen fewer and fewer occasions when I have run across a policeman on foot or in the car."
Gillian Sanford, chairman of the association, said: "I really do think we should support Mrs Evans because I get the feeling everyone agrees with her."
She said the association would look into the matter to see what could be done.
