Goalkeeper Richard McKinney was still coming to terms today with the fact he had been sent-off for the first time in his football career.
The 23-year-old Northern Irishman was given his marching orders by Leicester referee Paul Danson in first-half injury-time after conceding a penalty in last night's 4-1 LDV Vans Trophy defeat against Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road.
Paul Brayson duly shot The Robins in front for the first time from the spot as McKinney, making his first appearance between the posts in five matches, was condemned to watch the remainder of the match from the stands.
"I'm devastated and absolutely gutted," he told the Evening Gazette today.
"I was hoping to be like Gary Lineker and go through my career without a sending off, but all that's behind me now.
"I knew I'd given away the penalty, but it never occurred to me that I would get a red card."
McKinney was given his marching orders for a 'professional foul' on Cheltenham's Richard Forsyth as he homed in unchallenged on the U's goal.
