Essex County Council is being urged to come up with more money to fund Lawford's amenity site.
The village's parish council contributes towards the cost of the tip in Greensmill on the Lawford industrial estate and which is open for two hours each Saturday morning.
But parish councillors were warned they were coming close to the amount budgeted and would have to make a decision on whether the parish council should make more money available or close the tip.
It was agreed to ask the county council for more funding and also Brantham and Mistley Parish Councils and Manningtree Town Council to make grants as residents from those areas also used the tip
