Two women with a single cause met face to face for the first time this week.
Anti-Cliffe airport campaigner Jakki Byrne, 43, of Berkeley Lane, Canvey, met up with Joan Goddard, who leads the Kent section of the "No airport at Cliffe" group.
The pair have been in daily communication since they were first put in touch, to share battle plans to fight against the threat of a multi-million pound airport to be built less than three miles from Canvey.
Jakki chairs the Essex Action Group, which is staging a major meeting at The Paddocks, Long Road, Canvey, at 7.30pm tomorrow, Thursday. She said: "This is a peoples' meeting. It's not political and we're not going to have any point scoring."
