Hundreds of people are expected to take part in a march in opposition to a possible travellers' site at Colchester's Old Heath.
A march has been organised by the Old Heath Environmental Protection Association (OHEPA) from the Old Heath Co-op to The Bell pub for November 3.
Members of the Old Heath Residents' Association will be joining them in opposition to the possibility of a travellers' site being put at Place Farm.
Colchester councillors said Place Farm was an option for the permanent site though Essex County Council will have the final say.
Ian Collier, OHEPA liaison officer, said it was going to be a peaceful march.
He said: "We are trying to raise general awareness throughout the Old Heath and surrounding area."
Mr Collier said among the group's concerns were a natural woodland that would be disturbed by the possible site.
