More than 200 jobs have been spared in Rayleigh after electricity supplier Powergen bought the UK branch of troubled energy firm TXU for £1.37bn.
Staff at TXU's London Road office faced bleak outlook yesterday morning when Scottish & Southern Energy said it had pulled out of talks to buy the firm.
However, Powergen sealed the deal which will safeguard over 1,900 TXU jobs across Britain.
