A school could have a name change as part of a £2m facelift.
Westlands Primary School, in Beeches Close, Chelmsford, will see its intake rise from the present 420 to 630 capacity.
It will have seven extra classrooms, a new hall, office block and an all-weather sports pitch.
The improvements have come about as a result of the development of the nearby village estate which will see 520 homes built.
Developer Fairview Homes has contributed £1 million towards the refurbishment.
And when the extended school opens in September next year, it could be known by a new name.
Headteacher John Williams explained that at "a time of great change" for the school, it might be appropriate for a name change as well."
The governors will make their decision at a special meeting on November 27.
