A sniper who is risking lives by shooting an air rifle at passengers and bus drivers is being hunted by police.
Officers are "extremely concerned" about a spate of incidents which has seen the windows of moving vehicles smashed in Billericay.
Acting Sgt Colin Ellis has said police are keen to track down the trigger-happy gunman before somebody is seriously injured in an attack.
He said: "Our real worry is that this person will carry on taking shots with an air rifle and it could end with a fatality."
On four previous separate occasions, buses, cars and homes have been targeted. In the latest incident, a silver Toyota Amazon had a window smashed while it was parked in Hillway, near Norsey Wood, during the night on Friday.
Anyone with information should contact Billericay police on 01268 532212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
