Two men narrowly escaped serious injury after their cars collided in a Canvey road, firefighters revealed today.
Both of the island's crews were called to the smash in Link Road just after 11pm on Sunday night.
When the firefighters arrived they found a white Suzuki Rhino on its side after it had been in collision with a maroon Renault Espace. The road was shut for 45 minutes while the incident was dealt with.
Fortunately neither male drivers - one aged in his 20s the other in his 40s - were badly hurt.
Red Watch leading fire-fighter, Andy Bicknell, said: "The whole incident could have been nasty if someone had been in the passenger seat of the Suzuki."
Both men were treated at the scene.
