A loving new home is needed for friendly dog, Biff, a five-year-old staffordshire bull terrier who has been at the RSPCA Danaher Centre, in Wethersfield, near Braintree, for three weeks.
He was taken in by the centre after his owner became too ill to look after him.
But staff at the centre have had to isolate him because he has begun hurting himself. And they are now desperately trying to find him a new home.
Care assistant, William Longden, said: "He's a lovely dog but he desperately needs to be put in a home where people can look after him.
Anyone who feels they can offer Biff a new home can call RSPCA Danaher on 01371 851201.
