Victorian antiques, worth thousands of pounds, have been stolen from a house in Walton.
Raiders struck after Jocelyne and Martyn Leach, who own the antiques, had to leave their house in Kirby Road, for a few days while work was carried out.
The couple said the property was worth thousands of pounds but said the exact figure was not known.
Mrs Leach said: "They were old pieces that we bought from a friend to go into our house."
She said among the items stolen were two mahogany Victorian chests, side tables and brassware, including a coal scuttle, shovel, bucket and a copper kettle.
Mrs Leach said: "Pewter tankards that were won in the 1920s and 1930s from Frinton and Walton Yacht Club were also taken."
A silver mountain bike, security lights and censors and a drill and grinder were also stolen.
