A four-year project by residents in Great Bentley is to be unveiled next month.
Two historical plaques are to be laid at the base of the village sign depicting key events within the village from 1066 to 2000.
Bev Adams, of The Green, Great Bentley, said the scheme got off the ground in 1998, when they were planning celebrations to mark the millennium.
Mrs Adams said: "We decided to stage a party on the green and then found that we had some money left over.
"Along with further fundraising, we came up with enough cash for a special project and the idea of historical slabs was approved."
The unveiling ceremony will take place at 10am on November 9.
