Benfleet locals have welcomed the news that a new litter hotline could soon be up and running across Castle Point.
The line will cost £37,000 and will mean residents throughout the borough will be able to ring up the council and alert workers to particular problem areas.
Joe Cooke (Lab, St George's) said: "The hotline has got overwhelming support from residents - most people have been really supportive. Residents are very worried about the amount of litter in the Tarpots area."
The hotline now just has to be discussed by the full council before it is introduced in the area for a one year trial period.
