Youngsters will be warmer and drier as long as plans for improvements to their school get the green light.
Bocking Church Street Primary School has applied for planning permission to put up a single-storey extension and carry out internal alterations.
Although the improvements sound minor, they will have a huge impact on the school.
Headteacher Rosalind Welch explained: "At the moment, we have a hotchpotch of buildings, including a Victorian one and two relocatables.
"The Victorian building has tiny classrooms and there is no proper entrance, so visitors have to walk across the playground and often can't find their way in.
"Also, the children have to walk through a covered walkway to get to the hall. The wind and rain gets in and it's freezing."
