Local interest in this season's FA Vase ended on Saturday when Southend Manor crashed out.

Manor took on a Norwich United side who have been enjoying improved form in the Jewson Eastern Counties League Premier Division and lost 3-2 after extra-time.

Lee Smith gave the home side a 65th-minute lead, but the East Anglian visitors levelled 12 minutes from time before taking the lead through an 81st-minute penalty.

Manor got on terms through Danny Wilson after 83 minutes to take the game into an extra half-hour, but another spot-kick, after 95 minutes, saw Norwich through to the second round proper at Southchurch Park.

With Manor, Burnham Ramblers, who lost 4-1 at home to Bury Town, and Stansted, thrashed 8-0 at St Margaretsbury, all losing, Foresters Essex Senior League hopes are now with Enfield Town.

They entertained North Leigh, top of the Hellenic League, and won 3-1 after taking the lead through Kevin Riley (19 minutes).

Bradley Brotherton made it 2-0 after 39 minutes and, although Craig Pearman pulled one back for the visitors, James Bunn saw Enfield through with a speculative effort 20 minutes from time.
